Parish Announcements – January 20, 2012
We trust that the SeaTac airport has resumed business and Fr. Tony and Elena are able to begin their planned vacation inHawaii. We wish them a safe journey, a time for relaxation and refreshment, and we look forward to their return to us next Saturday. God bless them and keep them safe in their travels.
Sunday Forum continues Sunday in the Parish Hall at 9:00am with Becky Snow and Anne McCollom leading the lively discussion of the Anglican Covenant.
Evening Prayer will be read Sunday at 5:00pm in the Church. Please join us for this quiet, reflective worship service.
Do you have that Special Something for the Party of Parties Mardi Gras Auction? We are still accepting donations of “stuff”, services, or dollars. Your donated dollars will go toward purchasing special auction item packages, for everyone’s bidding pleasure! Join in the celebration of Trinity’s Outreach. Email Linda Wilson or call her at 541-708-0189. Feel free to leave a message, as we might be traveling.
Volunteers Needed: During the winter, the Presbyterian Church opens a shelter on Sunday nights and any night when the temperature is below 20 degrees. They are in need of volunteers. They have a male and female host and they serve generally less than 10 people. The volunteers need to sleep over on the floor and help clean up in the morning. If you are interested email Ruth Coulthard. – Sara Hopkins
Annual Reports This is just a reminder that the reports for 2011 are needed from each of the committees for the Annual Meeting, February 12th. If you haven’t already submitted your report, please send it by e-mail to the parish office.
Vestry Nominees Four parishioners whose names were submitted by you have been nominated by the Vestry Nomination Committee. They are Bruce Duncan, Norma Grenfell, Nancy Linton, and Russ Otte. A biography of each of the candidates is in the January Trinitarian.
Donations Needed James Johnson asks for donations of graph paper (4 per inch) spiral notebooks (70-100 pages) for in-need, low-income students atAshlandMiddle School. These notebooks are used on a daily basis for math classes (all their homework and in-class work is done in these books). The school did have a small supply for students in need, but it has run out. This time of year, students are using up their original notebooks and need replacements. James will use a few in the Academic Support Center at the middle school and turn the remainder over to the school counselors (or other schools if we have extra) to distribute as needed. These can be delivered to James directly, or dropped off at the main office of the middle school (100 Walker Avenue). Contact James at the middle school for more information or details about which type of notebooks are needed. 541-482-1611 ext. 180.
Trinity Trekkers See the Trekkers pictorial display on the bulletin board at the far end of the Parish Hall. All are invited to come and join the group. A map shows the Ashland Street location where they meet on Wednesday mornings. Contact Maggie McCartney at 541-488-5276 for more information.
